Actress Caroline Dhavernas (Dr. Alana Bloom, “Hannibal”) confirmed that “Hannibal” will not get another season (season 4) soon because Bryan Fuller, the showrunner, and the production team are having problems acquiring the rights to make it.

Reference of the Thomas Harris novels “Red Dragon” (1981), “Hannibal” (1999), and “Hannibal Rising” (2006), TV series “Hannibal” (2013) follows FBI profiler Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy) recruited by the head of the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI, Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne), to help investigate a serial killer in Minnesota. Later on, Jack decides to have Will supervised by a forensic psychiatrist, Dr. Hannibal Lecter (played by Mads Mikkelsen). The investigation is heavily dependent on Will.

As a Forensic Psychiatrist, Dr. Hannibal Lecter manipulates and misdirects the FBI from within to hide the fact that he is secretly a cannibalistic serial killer himself known by the name “The Chesapeake Ripper.” He is fascinated by Will’s ability to understand psychopaths and serial killers. Lecter uses his position to push Will’s already frail sanity to the edge to turn Will himself into a killer.

In a recent interview with Dead Talk Live, Caroline Dhavernas, who played Dr. Alana Bloom in Hannibal, shared that the production team is having problems acquiring the rights to make another season because of the alteration to the plot, like Dr. Alana Bloom, which is originally a male character by the name Dr. Alan Bloom based on the novels, and Miriam Lass finding out that Hannibal is the “Chesapeake Ripper” in season 2, which, again was originally found out by Will Graham in the book, “Red Dragon.”

As season 3 ends with Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter falling off the cliff (literally), Caroline adds that if Bryan got the green light and was going to create another season, he got the ability to do so by saying:

“You never knew if someone was really dead on Hannibal because if Bryan wanted them to come back, he would find a way, and it would fit into the operatic, crazy world that he built. When the two of them jumped off the cliff, I thought, how are they going to come back. Still, it could very well be something, someone, or something actually happens. Then we’ll be in a different world or alternate universe.”

Unlike another TV series that Caroline starred in, “Mary Kills People” (2017), Caroline has not been told that “Hannibal” will get the story’s closure at the end of season 3.

However, if Season 4 of “Hannibal” DID come to fruition, Caroline confirms that she’ll definitely return to the show again. She told Dead Talk Live she’ll accept the role again in a heartbeat.

The TV series did stray away from the source material, as most screen adaptations do. It did gain the attention of some dissatisfied viewers. This leads to the struggle of obtaining the rights to continue to a fourth season by Bryan Fuller and his production team. But for most people, the twists that were brought to the TV Show were very well received.
