Albert Wesker from “Resident Evil” spent a couple of minutes with DeadTalk Live.

Shawn Roberts

Despite his busy schedule, Shawn Robert ended up spending an hour with Deadtalk Live!

“Seven minutes. Seven minutes is all I can spare to play with you.” Jokes and memes aside, this time we got the actor for Albert Wesker from the “Resident Evil” movie, Shawn Robert to join Deadtalk Live interview.

Resident Evil: Afterlife follows Alice searching for and rescuing the remaining survivors in Los Angeles after the T-Virus outbreak, which caused the infected to become zombies. In order to stop the Umbrella Corporation to further develop and spreading the Virus, Alice needs to teaming up against Albert Wesker, the head of the Umbrella Corporation.

Shawn shared with Deadtalk live that he is a fan of Capcom’s Resident Evil video game, which he has played in Playstation 1 since he was little, and grew up with that game as well. He is also very excited when the movies for Resident Evil are announced and he has watched all the previous movies.

Shawn Robert has been a long time actor since the 90’s. When he found out the shooting for the next Resident Evil movie, “Resident Evil: Afterlife”, located in Toronto, which is coincidentally near his home. As a fan, he is very excited,  and he applied for the role, and got the role.

The part where Shawn likes the most when playing as the main antagonist of the Resident Evil movie francais, Albert Wesker is being a badass. Shawn mentioned the character Albert Wesker is inspired by another movie, “The Matrix”. Which the reference is pretty clear in the boss fight with Albert Wesker in Resident Evil 5, and the direct reference from the game can be seen in the movie, “Resident Evil: Afterlife”.

Although it looks cool, the tight skin suit worn by Albert Wesker actually requires at least 4 people to put it on Shawn, which makes him sweat a lot during shooting.

“Although I sweat a lot in that suit, at least I look cool.”

When we talked about the Resident Evil movies, of course it is impossible to ignore the main leads, Alice, played by Milla Jovovich. Shawn confirms with Deadtalk live that although she seems like a leader among the actors, she has no part at all in the role like executive directors.

Milla Jovovich took the role of Alice very seriously and did most of the stunts by herself. Shawn shared that there’s one scene where he is required to kick Milla, but hesitated because he was really worried about hurting her, but Milla insisted he do it.

Although she performs most of the stunts by herself, Milla is knows her limits as well, and when she should let the stunt double take over so the arrangement for rehearsal and choreography is able to go a lot smoother.

“To see her level of commitment makes me want to step up my game much further.”

Shawn also proudly announced that his friend, Robbie Amell, landed a role in the upcoming Resident Evil Movie.

As a fan of Resident Evil (mostly Capcom’s), I still remember struggling in the game with my friends, especially the puzzles because English is not my first language. I was terrible at English during that time, but now I have a blast with my friend when we play Resident Evil 5 in co-op multiplayer as well. Watching this interview pretty much reminds me of my childhood.

As for those who are interested in the Resident Evil franchise, I would highly recommend Resident Evil 7, especially if play it with VR, assuming you can get your hands on the gear! Although you still require the controller to walk around, the experience is straight up intense playing with the headset on. Instead of gunning zombies down left and right, Resident Evil 7 puts more emphasis on horror and exploration. Definitely a huge recommendation to fans the horror genre like yourself!

What do you guys wish to see in the upcoming Resident Evil film?
