Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities (2022)

Cabinet of Curiosities

New Netflix Horror Anthology Series is Sure to Delight Any Horror Enthusiast

The upcoming eight episode horror anthology series set to air on Netflix, titled Cabinet of Curiosities (2022) brings the macabre imagination and morbid creativity of the critically acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro to life. Said to be “genre defining” by many critics and peers, the show is sure to bring thrilling new horror to screen, guaranteed to leave any audience on the edge. While the show brings together an array of different directors and actors, there will be two episodes featuring original works by del Toro himself. These episodes span from spooky magic to the grotesque and gothic incorporating enough of everything to create a unique series like never before.

The original title of the series, Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight was changed to Cabinet of Curiosities, which is easier to remember as it pays homage to del Toro’s published book regarding his career and artistic works. While the series will not be based on the book, it is sure to bring inspiration from the deep morbid layers of del Toro’s imagination outlined in the book. With the series still in the production stages, there is no set release date for when Netflix is planning on making it available. However, according to some sources close to the series, the show is set to premiere sometime next year in 2022 and will be exclusive to Netflix.

Cabinet of Curiosities

With Cabinet of Curiosities being an anthology series, the plot really has no solid storyline as every episode is different and it is still too early for the marketing crew to release any storylines, so it is a matter of waiting until anything further is released. However, the production crew has stated that the show will cover a variety of different types of horror that challenge the traditional norms of the genre itself. If it is anything similar to del Toro’s previous works, like The Shape of Water (2017) and Pinocchio (2020), the show is sure to break the barriers of previously conceived notions of horror, leaving audiences amazed.

The most known about the show currently is the cast. The list of actors and actresses with famous roles just keeps going, from Essie Davis who plays in Game of Thrones (2011) to F. Murray Abraham, an Oscar-winning actor. With such a strong cast, there is no doubt that the show will defy expectations. However, until more information is released, all we can do is wait impatiently.
