Nancy Mello: Ghosts and Your Dead Loved Ones

Psychic Nancy Mello Explains

Those who waiver on belief in the paranormal say strange occurrences can often be explained by little things. One corner of the room might be colder than the rest of the house because of a draft, or a washing machine that turns on by itself in the middle of the night has a control panel issue. According to psychic and medium Nancy Mello, It isn’t always a practical explanation that can account for the funny feeling we get when these small occurrences happen.

Since she was a child, Mello has been sensitive to a realm outside our own which allowed her clairvoyant and foresight-related traits to manifest. She shares the difference between the curious versus scared emotions that people experience when they encounter something that is possibly supernatural. “When your loved ones want to send you a sign that they are around, you might get a whiff of the perfume they used to wear,” Mello shares. This ability is a psychic trait known as clairolfactance or clairalience, when the smell is a product of metaphysical connection to the living and the dead.

Mello continues, “One time, I was sitting in my car, and all of a sudden, I smelled cigar smoke so strong it felt like someone was right next to me. My first thought when I smelled the cigar was my grandfather, who passed away twenty years ago. I acknowledged him and thanked him for visiting.”

Exercising the five senses isn’t the only tactic a passed relative or friend might use to get our attention, according to Mello. Small and significant objects like coins in unusual places are not unheard of when it comes to people’s personal experiences being contacted by their passed loved ones. Clients of Mello have reported pictures of family and friends falling from high surfaces and shelves in many cases. “Whatever it is, it won’t scare you to the point of running away. It’ll be the type of thing where you go, ‘Hmm… That’s weird.'”

On the other hand, being tapped on the shoulder by someone we love who has passed on is not the only kind of visitors clients might get.

Mello exercises a profession in ghost activity, as well, not to be mistaken as a psychic outreach of someone we know. “Ghosts are people that either do not realize they are dead or are frustrated that they are. They want you to notice them, and they generally accomplish this by scare tactics. You might see a shadow in your window or crossing the hallway, or you might feel a chill when there is no cool air around you.

Ghosts like to use sounds, footprints, and animals to their advantage. “Cats will hiss at thin air, and dogs may all of a sudden cower behind you”, she explicates.

The human response to a ghost might be more threatening in sentiment than a brief whiff of perfume or seeing a white feather on our bedroom floor. Clients will often want to engage even just by fleeing the room in fear. Mello’s best advice for a ghost’s presence is more simple than anyone would think: “Ignore them. Because they thrive off of attention, the less you notice them (out loud, at least), the less they will try to continue their antics.”

There is a right time to connect with those that have moved on from our world and that is usually when the outreach comes to us humans first. Of course, only if it doesn’t seem like it may invite trouble. Mello concludes her compare and contrast by saying, “The reason why it can be so scary is we can’t explain why or how something happens. There is a level of faith involved in understanding that life continues after we die.”

Should you experience a haunting, perhaps, listen to your gut. Are you calm, curious, or feeling nostalgic? Or are you stiff and experiencing a bout of anxiety? This may be what determines the difference between who is visiting you from the afterlife.
