Outside his acting career, many will also remember JDF’s MMA career which saw him victorious in his only professional fight against Jose Roberto Vasquez, as well as four amateur fights. The actor had been a lifelong practitioner of martial arts, holding Black Belts in Judo, Taekwondo, Wado-Ryu Karate, 8th Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate as well as a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Ajarn Degree in Muay Thai. JDF was also inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame in 2003. Many fans who knew JDF on the convention circuit have expressed their appreciation for the late actor.
