Blumhouse’s next feature, There’s Something Wrong with the Children, aims to give the standard horror film theme of creepy children a fresh take.
Furthermore, creepy children are a staple of the horror genre. Whether afflicted by a demon or overheard speaking with an unseen ghost, creepy youngsters are a tried-and-true approach to frighten an audience.
With a moniker that resembles the subtitle of an 80s horror movie, the narrative of There’s Something Wrong with the Children appears to have been influenced by legends of changelings and child-stealing woodland spirits. The trailer seems enticing, complete with a spooky-looking forest and a similarly menacing cave. Also, a pit that two young toddlers irrationally dive into. Only for them to return – or something that resembles them to do so.
