Connor & Gigi Discuss Their Characters, Careers, & More

On the latest episode of Dead Talk Live, actors Connor Floyd and Gigi Gustin from the 2022 film The Last Deal joined us to discuss their characters, the trajectory of their careers, and more.

The action flick focuses on a “black market marijuana dealer” who “tries to make one final score before getting squeezed out of the business when cannabis becomes legal,” as its IMDb synopsis describes.

While speaking with DTL, Connor and Gigi admitted that they both auditioned for different roles in the movie. However, everything worked out in the end because writer and director, Jonathan Salemi, wrote their characters, Marcus and Brittney, into the film for the actors. The movie was met with rave reviews and was released to streaming services on February 7th, 2023.

Despite the Young & the Restless star’s character being a bit “entitled” – to say the least – Floyd was excited to take on the role. As for Gustin, the short film producer and actress approached her character knowing that Brittney was “there for a good time, not a long time.”

“I loved how Connor played his character because it really gave me some room to play,” Gustin explained, adding that she and her scene partner played around with a “little improv” to build the dynamic they created in the long run.

Since the two actors have an extensive amount of credits on their resumes, Floyd and Gustin also opened up about their passion for film and TV, as they both have several upcoming projects ahead of them.

Floyd is also a daytime soap actor, and he described the transition from movies to television as a “big adjustment,” noting that there was “more freedom” in shooting The Last Deal

Gustin, for her part, has been promoting her anthology film Nightmare at Precinct 84, which resulted from her time working on short films. Although she was a co-writer on the upcoming movie, Gustin emphasized that she feels stronger acting on camera rather than writing.
