Hellboy: The Crooked Man Adds Yellowstone & Resident Evil Stars

Crooked

Jefferson White & Adeline Rudolph Join Crooked Man Cast

Right after adding Jack Kesy as their titular hero, director Brian Taylor and Millennium Films have added two more performers to their upcoming Hellboy reboot. These new additions come in the form of Yellowstone’s Jefferson White and Adeline Rudolph. White will co-star as Tom Ferrell, a local man haunted by the Crooked Man, who is aiming to settle a score he has with Tom.

While Adeline Rudolph, best known for her role in Netflix’s Resident Evil Series, has been revealed to be playing new character Bobbi Jo Song. Nothing specific has been revealed about Adeline’s character, but with the character being original to the film, it seems that Bobbi Jo Song is likely the Rookie agent for the B.P.R.D. (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense) working with Hellboy through his trek through the Appalachian Mountains.

Crooked

There are several roles still to be cast, including Effie Kolb, Cora Fischer, Reverend Watts, and the titular villain the Crooked Man: Jeremiah Witkins.

In the comic, the Crooked Man was Jeremiah Witkins, a miser and widely considered the worst person of his time. One of the first settlers of the Appalachian Mountains, Witkins stirred conflicts between native tribes and settlers, sold guns to warring parties, and liquor. His crimes would see him hanged, but shortly after he was sent back to collect souls for Hell. A villain fitting of both Hellboy’s mythos and cinematic adventures.

Crooked

This upcoming reboot will be a far cry from the massive and epic scope of previous films. Centering on a story with relatively smaller stakes, this brings the action, characters, and horror down to a grittier and more personal level than the previous films.

The film is a confirmed reboot, taking place in its own continuity outside the films by Guillermo del Toro and the previous reboot starring Stranger Things David Harbour. With Jack Kesy taking the role of a physically younger Hellboy, focusing on a story early in the hero’s career only makes sense.

Filming is set to begin in Bulgaria this coming April. Brian Taylor directs from a script by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and Chris Golden, adapting the three-issue story arc of the same name, written by Mignola with art by Richard Corben.
