Disney Releases First Trailer For Haunted Mansion

999 Ghosts Are Waiting To Welcome You Home

The wait is finally over. The trailer for the new live-action Haunted Mansion film has arrived. The new film is set to be released this summer on July 28 and based on the trailer, it’s going to be full of nostalgia and scares for the whole family. Here is everything that is known so far about the new movie.

Justin Simien (Bad Hair) serves as director for this new movie based on the famous Disney World ride of the same name. Simien has long been a fan of the famous ride and its historic legacy, and he and his team have worked tirelessly to bring the movie to a new generation, as he told Bloody Disgusting. Fans can expect a funny and cinematic experience full of plenty of wacky haunts. As the official tagline goes, home is where the haunt is.

Haunted Mansion will star LaKeith Stanfield as a widowed scientist-turned-paranormal expert who asked to investigate the mansion after the new residents experience some strange happenings. Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) plays a doctor and single mother to a 9-year-old (Chase Dillon) and buys the house at a ridiculously low price. Not long after moving in, they quickly learn of the mansions 999 spooky occupants and reach out to a priest for help.

Said priest is played by Owen Wilson (Zoolander), and he reaches out to Stanfields character, along with a French Quarter psychic played by Tiffany Haddish (Girl’s Trip) and an elderly historian played by Danny DeVito (Matilda). Also in the film are Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Jared Leto (Morbius), Winona Ryder (Edward Scissorhands), Dan Levy (Schitt’s Creek), and Hasan Minhaj (The Daily Show).

The Haunted Mansion ride for which the film is based was created in 1969 and is still a huge attraction to this day. The ride is full of supernatural frights from beginning to end and features a graveyard’s worth of characters. The most popular are the Hatbox Ghost, The Phantom, The Hitchhiking Ghosts, and Madame Leota.

Fans will likely remember 2003’s The Haunted Mansion, which starred comedy legend Eddie Murphy and was directed by Rob Minkoff. Guillermo del Toro was initially attached to directing this new adaptation, but he was unfortunately forced to drop out of the project. It’s a safe bet that this new film is in safe hands, though, because there is plenty of top-tier talent that have worked to bring this new venture to life.

Don’t miss Disney’s haunted Mansion when it spooks its way into theaters on June 28.
