You Hurt My Feelings is the sort of slice-of-life story that only A24 can produce, which is likely to get fans even more excited for its release. A24 has become known for its fantastic independent films, which are all the more notable due to their allowing unlimited creative freedom in their projects.
The film is written and directed by Nicole Holofcener, whose other notable works include 2013’s Enough Said (also starring Louis-Dreyfus), The Last Duel, and Can You Ever Forgive Me, with Holofcener having written the latter two films. Fans of both the director and the starring actress can expect the movie to drop sometime this spring, and it’s already gaining good reviews. The movie has already played at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and is being described as “simply a film about adults having adult conversations,” which may not sound that entertaining but is made hilarious by the hilarious performances from the cast.
Staring alongside Louis-Dreyfus and Menzies are David Cross (Arrested Development), Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia), Michaela Watkins (The Dropout), Arian Moayed (Succession), and Owen Teague (It Chapters 1&2). Based on the trailer, the cast does more than enough to hold their own alongside the leading stars and feel the ramifications of their white lies as well. Don’t miss You Hurt My Feelings when the film hits theaters on May 26, 2023.
