More and more movie stars are making the transition over to television. Kevin Costner is in Yellowstone, and Sylvester Stallone is in Tulsa King. Even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been in a couple of shows. Now Netflix is set to gain the legendary acting chops of the great Robert De Niro in an all-new conspiracy thriller series.
The streamer announced today the new limited series Zero Day, the first TV series to star the Academy Award-winning actor, and he’ll also serve as Executive Producer. Additionally, Lesli Linka Glatter has also boarded the series to serve as director and Executive Producer for all 6 of the show’s episodes.
No official description of the series has been given yet. So far, there is only a logline, which states: “Zero Day asks the question on everyone’s mind – how do we find the truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theories and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even our own imagining?”
Netflix’s Vice President of Scripted Series Peter Friedlander had this to say about the upcoming show: “Zero Day is a shrewd, heart-pounding conspiracy thriller that will keep audiences at the edge of their seats. It’s an honor to have this A-list caliber talent assembled, led by the iconic Robert De Niro, and brought to life by the unrivaled talents of Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, Lesli Linka Glatter, and Michael S. Schmidt.”
