Teen Wolf: The Movie (2023): A Review

Teen Wolf

Teen Wolf Return After Years

Teen Wolf is a teen series created by Jeff Davis which was released on June 5th, 2011, and consists of six seasons. The last season was released on November 15th, 2016. The show consists of 100 episodes in total and was based on the movie Teen Wolf (1985). The whole plot of the show takes place in Beacon Hills which is a fictional place. The first episode starts with Scott McCall, a typical teenager who goes to high school and plays lacrosse, but plays most of the games on the bench. There are murders in the town, but the police cannot find the killer.

These guys decide to go into the forest at night and then Scott McCall gets attacked by a mysterious beast. After being bitten he gains extraordinary strength and has to balance high school and defend his town from supernatural and dangerous creatures. Throughout the series, Scott McCall and his friends encounter obstacles that threaten them and the city as they battle the creatures.

After years, Teen Wolf: The Movie was released on January 26th, 2023, which brought together almost the entire main cast that participated in the filming of the show. This movie is based on the TV Show Teen Wolf directed by Russell Mulcahy and produced by Tyler Hoechlin. It’s currently available on Paramount Plus.

Reunion of Old Friends

The events of the film take place 15 years after the finale of the show. The trailer shows that Lydia is at work in her office and she has a vision where she sees an event from the past where Allison was killed. Scott McCall and Mr. Argent also see a vision where Allison appears there. They have a suspicion that perhaps she did not die, but was caught between the worlds.

The trailer shows a live Allison but she doesn’t recognize Scott McCall as she asks him who he is. Through this, relatives and friends doubt whether it is Allison or someone else in her body.

In addition, Nogitsune and Oni appear in the trailer. In the series, Nogitsune was one of the anti-gyro, which is also a type of kitsune, or rather an evil spirit and demon. Based on what the trailer shows, it can be assumed that the events taking place in Beacon Hills force Scott McCall to gather old friends years later and return back to his hometown. Not only are old friends returning, but so are demons from the past. They will again have to face puzzles and the danger that awaits them.

Final Rating

When I read that the film was coming out, I was delighted because I watched the Teen Wolf show and I am familiar with this story and its characters. Watching the film, I experienced a different and rich range of emotions from the events taking place. I was glad to return to the small town of Beacon Hills again and plunge into the mysterious events and meetings with any characters. The film was released on January 26th, 2023, and can be viewed on Paramount+.
