Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving Coming Soon

Eli Roth

Eli Roth is Slicing up Something Unique for Thanksgiving

Sony Pictures (Spider-Man, Jumanji, Ghostbusters, Casino Royale, Spectre, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall) and Spyglass Media Group (Scream, Scream VI, Hellraiser) are producing Thanksgiving, a full-length film inspired by the fictitious trailer featured in the 2007 film Grindhouse. Directed by Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever, Haunt, The Green Inferno) and co-written by Roth and Jeff Rendell (Cabin Fever, Grindhouse), Thanksgiving will be produced by Roger Birnbaum (The Magnificent Seven, 27 Dresses) Roth, and Rendell.

The film will be starring Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy, Scream 3), Milo Manheim (School Spirits, Z-O-M-B-I-E-S-3), Jenna Warren (The Family), Rick Hoffman (Billions, Suits), Karen Cliche (Saw VI), Tomaso Sanelli (Titans, Shadowhunters), Tim Dillon, Gina Gershon (Showgirls), Joe Delfin (The Expanse), Nell Verlaque (Big Shot), Addison Rae (He’s All That), Jalen Thomas Brooks (Supergirl), Gabriel Davenport (Hotel for The Holidays), Dorian Giordano (Lockdown), Jeff Teravainen (Dark Matter, Far Cry 2), and Shailyn Griffin (Lady Ada’s Secret Society).

Not much is known about the plot outside of the trailer that already exists in Grindhouse, but it is definitely a holiday-themed slasher. This will be a welcome addition to the holiday, specifically, Thanksgiving-themed horror. The movie is likely to be gory, but also have some funny moments given Eli Roth’s past work and the original trailer. It seems that it will cover some compelling themes and topics. The cheerleader, possible cannibalism, and extremely over-the-top gore work well together and the trailer seems as if it would be a genuinely good movie. Whatever is expanded on will be fitting with the Grindhouse trailer.

The cast is interesting as well as quite extensive. Patrick Dempsey is always enjoyable to watch on screen and this will be Addison Rae’s second feature film. Karen Cliche from the Saw VI Shotgun Carousel trap is in Thanksgiving as well.

Thanksgiving is due to come out at the end of the year, likely right before or around Thanksgiving. Maybe a new, updated trailer will come out closer to the release date.

No matter what Thanksgiving is about or when it comes to theaters, it is sure to be an entertaining spectacle and a distinctly Eli Roth movie.
