10. I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)

One year after a group of friends accidentally ran over a fisherman and dumped his body in nearby water, the friends reconnect when Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) gets a letter claiming that there was a witness to their crime. While Barry (Ryan Phillipe) is trying to unravel who sent the letter, he, unfortunately, meets his end by a man with a meat hook. Will the remaining friends unmask the man with the hook before they meet their end?

Young camper (Felissa Rose) is sent away to summer camp by her toxic aunt and is abused by fellow campers. Things grow worse as other campers begin to die and their deaths grow more gruesome by the kill. The movie leads to a twist and a surprise ending that will leave viewers in shock.

Friends and influencers go to a small town in Texas where they slowly become hunted down by Leatherface.

There is another twist involved, but that should be saved for viewers to find out. Plus, Marvel fans rejoice as Chris Hemsworth stars in this modern horror classic.

5. It Follows (2014)

Teenager Jay (Maika Monroe) spends the night with boyfriend Hugh (Jake Weary). After sleeping with Hugh, Jay realizes that she is the latest victim of a deadly curse. The fatal curse is passed around through sexual activity from partner to partner, and the only way to survive is to pass the curse onto somebody else. Those who haven’t encountered the curse refuse to believe Jay and her ranting until they too fall victim. Jay bands together with other survivors to help fend off death.

A couple travels to Sweden on a trip to visit friends in their countryside town that is well known for its midsummer festival. What should be a relaxing summer get away quickly becomes a nightmare. The events become a contest of survival in a game hosted by a pagan cult.

3. Friday the 13th (1980)

The start of Camp Crystal Lake introduces its slasher, Jason Voorhees. The original Friday the 13th follows a group of counselors visit the camp, ignoring the warnings of locals. The movie is a great start for those wanting to visit the series and a classic that terrorizes campers over forty years later.

Seven outcasts form together in Darry, Maine to survive the paranormal being that is haunting the kids in the small town. The summer break is one filled with horrors and sometimes the scariest part of growing up isn’t the unknown monsters, but the monsters that surround all of us.

Nope follows a brother and sister who try to uncover the mysterious happening taking place over their family horse farm. Another local tries to profit off the phenomenon as events unfold, and viewers will be left guessing what will happen next.
