Adapted from the best-selling book of the same name by David Grann, the story chronicles the murders that took place in Oklahoma at the expense of the Osage Nation after being relocated. The murders began after they discovered the land was rich in oil and accumulated wealth from it. The film’s plot follows William Hale, played by De Niro, and Ernest Burkhart, played by DiCaprio, as they plan to get their hands on the oil wealth from the Osage Nation. As they attempt to infiltrate their way into their desired location through the way of marriage to Mollie Burkhart, portrayed by Lily Gladstone, a string of murders arises. Jesse Plemons, from the hit TV show Breaking Bad, and most recently, The Power Of The Dog will play the federal agent on the case to decipher the serial murders, commonly referred to as the Reign of Terror.

This past week at CinemaCon, Martin Scorsese himself debuted a new teaser trailer. In the trailer, the set up of the film was given, especially in giving the setting of 1920s Oklahoma. While the trailer has yet to be released publicly, the reveals did not end there.
Following the trailer, Paramount Pictures released three new stills giving audiences the first look at Robert De Niro’s character William Hale as he talks to Leonardo DiCaprio’s character. In one of the stills, Scorsese sits alongside Lily Gladstone, wearing the traditional Osage clothing, in a Catholic church.
