Beckingham, Calvey & Dudbridge Aren’t Invisible
Dead Talk Live is about to bring some visibility to the cast and director of 2023’s Fear the Invisible Man. Director Paul Dudbridge and actors Mhairi Calvey and Mike Beckingham will be joining us on June 6, 2023, to discuss their upcoming film, which is set for a digital release on June 13, 2023.
What is Fear the Invisible Man About?
Distributed by Hanover Pictures, the 2023 adaptation focuses on “a young British widow” who “shelters an old medical school colleague, a man who has somehow turned himself invisible.”
“As his isolation grows and his sanity frays, he schemes to create a reign of wanton murder and terror across the city.”
Calvey portrays Adeleine, while Beckinham plays Griffin.
How Is it Different From 2020’s Invisible Man?
As seen in the 2020 Elisabeth Moss-starring Invisible Man, author H.G. Wells’ original work has been adapted for the screen once again in Fear the Invisible Man. Dudbridge’s film is expected to align more closely with Wells’ original novel, while the previous horror flick modernized the tale with an even higher-tech invention and a domestic abuse storyline.
The trailer resembles the same period that Wells’ story takes place: the 19th century. From eerie snowy footprints to rising bed sheets, the invisible character definitely frightens the characters as his descent into madness accelerates.
“I can do many things while I’m invisible, Adeleine,” he says in the trailer.
It’s clear that the modest yet effective production is bringing us a dark gothic tale to the screen. And what better time to do that than in the summer?
