Eddy Murphy to Star in Holiday Feature “Candy Cane Lane”

A Pinch of Naughty and Spice and Everything Nice

Eddie Murphy, a veteran actor, has more than solidified his talents. Unbelievably, with an impressionable 64 acting credits to his name that date back to 1982, Murphy has yet to star in a holiday flick. However, that is about to change as the “comedy king” himself is set to take the lead in the upcoming feature film Candy Cane Lane. This marks an exciting new direction for Eddie Murphy and is sure to be a festive treat for his fans and holiday movie enthusiasts alike.

Candy Cane Lane

Candy Cane Lane is a Prime exclusive set for a December 1 release, right in time for the most festive season of the year. And it is a film poised to become a heartwarming holiday classic, brimming with the season’s enchantment. The story revolves around a man whose veins practically flow with Christmas spirit, and nothing excites him more than a spirited holiday competition. As the synopsis reads, “Eddie Murphy plays the part of Chris, a determined individual on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest.” However, in the tradition of holiday hijinks, things don’t go as smoothly as planned. A mischievous elf named Pepper is at the center of all the mayhem. Soon, Chris discovers firsthand how playful and impish elves can be when Pepper brings the “12 days of Christmas” to life, leading to a series of hilarious and chaotic events.

A Perfectly Packaged Holiday Cast

While Candy Cane Lane marks Eddie Murphy’s first foray into spreading holiday magic on the big screen, he’ll have an exceptional ensemble of talent to make it an unforgettable feature. Joining Murphy is Tracee Ellis Ross, who will take on the role of his wife, Carol, adding a special touch of holiday charm. Jillian Bell will bring Pepper the Elf to life with a delightful blend of sweetness and mischief. The supporting cast is equally impressive, with names like Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, D.C. Young Fly, Ken Marino, and Anjelah Johnson-Reyes.

Candy Cane Lane: A Little Extra Sweetness

The synergy the creative team will bring to the film is particularly interesting. Candy Cane Lane will not be the first time Eddie Murphy has worked with director Reginald Hudlin and producer Brian Grazer. This project marks a reunion for the trio, as they previously joined forces for the successful 1992 comedic drama Boomerang, which was a resounding success. As The Ringer notes, “It [Boomerang] became one of the top 20 highest-grossing films of the year domestically and made more than $130 million globally.” With any hope, fans can look forward to their collective expertise and chemistry producing another memorable film.

For those looking forward to the impending holiday, here’s something to jump-start the merriment.
