David Duchovny, Jackson White and Pam Grier star in the horror prequel.

Horror fans and Stephen King fans can rejoice together. Fans of the original cult classic, Pet Sematary, have plenty to look forward to as the official trailer for the latest entry in the franchise, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, has dropped. The film is produced by Paramount and directed by Lindsey Anderson.

A Prequel After The Remake

The release of this trailer comes only four years after the remake of the original, which came out in 2019. This newest entry is set to take place before the events of the original. Once again, set in the rural town of Ludlow, Maine, another family makes the mistake of burying a deceased loved one in an ancient Native American burial ground. This time around, however, viewers will seemingly get a better look at the resurrection in this particular entry. Prior entries in the series never properly showcased what these individuals actually went through after being resurrected, so this should be an interesting concept to explore.

Another interesting thing to note is that the mentioned resurrected is named Timmy. This name should sound familiar to fans of the original Pet Sematary, where the story of Timmy was initially told as a legend. X-Files heartthrob David Duchovny stars as the heartbroken and desperate father.

A Promising Start

Based on the trailer, there’s plenty to be excited about. Right off the bat, fans are treated to the sight of blood and violence. What’s more, there seems to be plenty of Native American imagery being used throughout the trailer. While always casually mentioned throughout the films, this will be the first time that so much focus and emphasis will have been placed on this particular aspect. There even appear to be brief flashbacks to the initial settlers of Ludlow when they discovered the ancient burial ground. The final moments of the trailer hint at possible chaos for the whole town as everyone gets their gun out and blood starts flying. Fans eager to watch this prequel won’t have to wait long as it is set to stream this October 6, 2023, on Paramount+ to get in the mood.

A lover of gore and over the top violence, no movie can make my stomach squirm. The only thing better than a bloody death scene is a well choreographed stunt. Whether it be action or horror, if it has blood in it, then I've likely already seen it.
