The former rapper turned actor discusses stepping away from the spotlight

In a recent interview with Cigar Aficionado, actor, producer, and entrepreneur Mark Wahlberg reflected with Marvin R. Shaken on his many accomplishments throughout the years. He went on about plans for future business pursuits, thoughts on past projects like 1997’s Boogie Nights, upcoming projects he is working on, and how he is considering officially retiring from the acting business after around 30 years of being a professional actor.

Wahlberg feels he’s at a pace of slowing down

In his own words, Wahlberg commented on “working harder now than ever” and how he’s been doing so many projects over the past few years. He elaborates more on this by saying, “Certain businesses, you kind of build them, pass them on or you exit. Hopefully my kids, we’ll see what their interests are, but I don’t think that I’ll be acting that much longer at the pace I am now.” When referencing his family, he adds, “That’s for sure. That’s the most difficult thing.”

The actor expresses interest in stretching his talents in other areas

Wahlberg would go on about being a producer with him originally doing it “out of necessity,” in his own words, but since has used it as a way of being proactive in getting his hands on material that is right for him. He also talked about potentially stepping into the director’s chair to work with great talents. Wahlberg expresses wanting to create his own destiny. Then there’s his entrepreneur career, with him recently investing in tequila brands such as Flecha Azul. This year, he officially became the Chief Brand Officer for F45 training.
