Its Dante As Never Seen Before!
Netflix’s New Devil May Cry Show
Dante makes his debut in this new teaser for Netflix’s Devil May Cry. During its Drop 01 virtual showcase, Netflix revealed that it is teaming up with Capcom to create a new show based on the action series Devil May Cry. From the same producers of Netflix’s Castlevania, producer Adi Shankar will be showrunner, and Studio Mir will do the animation.
There’s no release date yet, but in a statement, Shankar said, “I’m honored that Netflix and Capcom have entrusted me to shepherd the Devil May Cry franchise. [Writer] Alex Larsen and I love these characters. We are part of the fandom and vow to surpass the exceptionally high bar we set for ourselves.”
Netflix has listed the show as “coming soon” along with a lineup of other exciting new projects it has in store for fans.
In 2012, Shankar started a YouTube channel with a bootleg version of Marvel’s The Punisher starring Thomas Jane. The short film The Punisher: Dirty Laundry has since gathered 32 million views in the 11 years since its release. On the same channel, Shankar produced a few different passion projects, like an unauthorized Power Rangers short film with a real-world dystopian setting and fight scenes that realistically portrayed violence. Since then, the “BOOTLEG UNIVERSE” youTube channel has 198k subscribers with multiple original short films and a podcast where he interviews actors, screenwriters, WWE wrestlers, and UFC fighters.
The Drop 01 Virtual Showcase
At its first-ever Drop 01 animation event, Netflix invited fans to its virtual showcase of their new lineup of animated shows including, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Tomb Raider, Sonic Prime, Blue Eye Samurai, as well as the first three episodes of Castlevania: Nocturne ahead of its premiere on September 28th.
Over the last few years, Netflix has released various animated series based on popular video games, so it is great to see they are not stopping there.
