Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is Swinging to Netflix

Spider-Man

Streaming From Another Dimension

Fans of a certain web-slinging wallcrawler are in for a treat this month. Not only will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 be released for PlayStation 5 soon, but this year’s animated hit Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be making its way to Netflix in the U.S. by the end of this month.

An Instant Animation Classic

Created by Sony Pictures Animation, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the sequel to the Academy Award-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018). Its star-studded cast includes Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara, Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie Brown, and Jason Schwartzman as the Spot. The film’s story picks up some time after the original, with protagonist Miles Morales continuing his development as his universe’s new Spider-Man. However, when the Spot, a villain from his past, unlocks the ability to travel between dimensions, Miles finds himself whisked into another multiversal adventure. He forms an uneasy alliance with a team of Spider-People whom he encounters on his journey, but their help comes with an unfathomable price.

Much like the first film, Across the Spider-Verse was released to critical and box office success. During its worldwide run, it grossed $690 million. Critics and fans alike fell in love with the sequel’s amazing character work and spectacular visuals. While a third film titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has been announced, its release date has been postponed indefinitely due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

When and Where to Watch

Audience members looking to get their Spider-Man kick as they wait for Beyond the Spider-Verse are in luck. Netflix stated in a recent post to X that, “His name is Miles Morales. He was bitten by a radioactive spider. I’m pretty sure you know the rest. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse comes to Netflix in the U.S. on October 31st!” This means that Miles, Gwen, and more will be making their way to the screens of American subscribers starting this Halloween.
