Pugh Becomes The Most Recent Victim Of Fans Throwing Objects At Celebrities

Florence Pugh became the most recent victim in incidents involving audience members tossing objects at stars on stage. The Academy Award-nominated actress was recently attacked while sitting on a panel to discuss Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi sequel, Dune: Part Two, on Sunday at a Comic-Con event in São Paulo, Brazil. Joining Pugh were her co-stars Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet, and Austin Butler as they posed on stage. The attack happened while Pugh was posing for photos as an object was thrown and hit her in the face. This isn’t the first time fans have thrown objects at celebrities’ faces. Previous victims have included Harry Styles, Bebe Rexha, Kelsea Ballerini, and Pink.

The Attack

Videos of the incident have gone viral on social media. Pugh and the other panelists were completely shocked by the fans’ actions. The actress jerked back while making contact with the object and put her hand up to her eye, where the object then hit her in the face. She proceeded to bend down and pick up the object, which appeared to be a pen, but there was no definitive confirmation as it flew fast at her. Pugh’s co-stars were surprised but seemingly tried to react in a positive and neutral way to avoid any harsh media.

This recent behavior has mostly occurred at concerts against singers. However, Pugh’s recent attack has now added actors to this new despicable trend. Bebe Rexha, a former victim of being hit in the face by fans, needed stitches this past summer after being hit by a fan’s phone. The thrower was arrested and charged with assault after much time. Even Taylor Swift has become a victim of these throwings. She had to stop her concert in Buenos Aires to ask fans not to throw stuff on stage out of fears involving safety. Swift tells her fans how much she loves and appreciates them and their gifts but kindly asks that they aren’t thrown on stage, which was a really positive reaction.

Excitement for Dune: Part Two

No one is safe now as this trend of object throwing has made its way into the land of actors after primarily occurring to singers. Pugh’s attack happened right after she spoke about her excitement for Dune: Part Two. The actress highlighted the power in the room, the amazing time she experienced with the cast, and how great it was being around them. She wasn’t saying anything controversial or negative, so it was extremely surprising that she was attacked almost in response to her previous statements about feeling special to be where she stood. Stay tuned for more information on the attack and if charges will be pressed.
