‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’ Spinoff Premieres In 2024

Rick and Michonne Are Returning to The Walking Dead!

The latest Walking Dead spinoff, The Ones Who Live, will premiere on February 25, 2024, on AMC, returning will be series favorites Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Michonne (Danai Gurira), and Jadis Stokes (Pollyanna McIntosh)  in the war between the living and the dead.

Jadis Will Also Be A Main Cast Character

The Ones Who Live spin-off series will also focus on the journey of Jadis Stokes, played by Pollyanna McIntosh.

In an interview with EW, McIntosh discussed how the show is different from the two previous shows her character has starred in, “The setting and the locations are very different. The spirit is all there. I’d say it’s a lot of action, it’s a lot of pathos, and it’s a whole lot of love. Look at that! That’s a greeting card! But that’s what it is. And, to me, it’s very much in the spirit of the original. It’s just that we’ve never seen Rick in this situation before.”

When asked what it was like being back on set, McIntosh added, “Getting to work with [Andrew Lincoln] again in those scenes, it was like they changed every time. The more pissed off or upset or disappointed or worn down he played it, the more I had to question as Jadis what I was doing. The tougher and more macho he played it, the more I thought, “F— you, you arrogant little prick. It’s not all about you. There’s work to be done here!” And I’m talking about the character. Obviously, Andy could never be an arrogant little prick. So that was just the most wonderful reminder of the days on Walking Dead working together.”

Also starring in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live are Leslie-Ann Brandt (Pearl Thorne) and Frankie Quinones. Greg Nicotero directed, and Scott Gimple and Gary Spinelli wrote the series. Scott Gimple serves as showrunner and executive producer, along with executive producers Christie Colliopoulos, Brian Bockrath, Danai Gurira, Andrew Lincoln, and Greg Nicotero. This series will be Stokes’ (McIntosh) third scripted stint in the Walking Dead universe.

Rick in the final moments of season 11

Where is Rick Now?

Rick was thought to have perished in the climactic moments of the season 9 episode “What Comes After”, he sacrifices himself in an explosion on a bridge being overflowed with a huge horde of walkers. Only to be found by Jadis on the riverbank below as flaming walkers go tumbling into the river. Jadis, going by Ann, takes him aboard a helicopter and they fly off to an unknown destination where she helps take care of him, Rick is now seen again until the series finale where he returns in the final moments when Michonne is vowing to find him again. This is undoubtedly where The Ones Who Live will pick up.
