Starting the New Year Off Right: Ryan Reynolds Posts Brand New ‘Deadpool 3’ Photo

This is the Year of "Deadpool"

Most are contemplating their New Year’s resolution right now; maybe it’s finding work, paying rent to their parents for hiding out in their basement for years, or it could be immersing themselves in all things related to Deadpool 3.

Luckily, Ryan Reynolds is helping some achieve their goals by sharing an Instagram photo of himself as Wade Wilson. Moreover, the tagline reads: “Thank you 2023 part 1. In no real order. I got to spend most of the year working and playing with the people I [love].”

“Surprises Are Part Of The Magic Of Theatrical Movies”

Even though Reynolds teased fans with an image from Deadpool 3, he cautioned them not to post unsolicited images from filming. Recently, he stated on his Instagram stories: “Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It’s important for us to shoot the new Deadpool film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone.”

No One Likes a Spoiler

Reynolds’ advice is sound— no one likes when someone gives away pertinent plot details of a film. Kind of like that friend, Jimmy, who says the movie was “so sad” — making it obvious that the main character dies. (Unfortunately, Jimmy fails to take accountability for ruining the theatrical experience.)

Reynolds went on to add, “Here’s hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back showing images before they’re ready. The film is built for audience joy — and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen. Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they’re excited. I realize these aren’t real world issues and it’s firmly in the ‘good problems’ bucket. I love making this movie.”

Everyone likes a good surprise — the psychology of getting something pleasantly unexpected activates dopamine, akin to taking an exciting drug. So until Deadpool 3 is released on July 26th, let’s try to keep spoilers to a minimum… or better yet, just not reveal any at all.
