Dever Delivers Powerful Experience and Killer Acting Chops to the New Season

There is no better way to elicit hype among fans than with casting announcements. Even before the first season of The Last of Us was released, fans were already hyped after hearing news of Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) and Nick Offerman (Parks and Rec) being cast in the series. Season 2 is coming in just as hot, with Kaitlyn Dever set to play Abby in The Last of Us Part II.

A Familiar Face

After a wildly successful first season, fans are already anticipating the second season. The most important thing to get right was the casting for one of the central characters in this story: Abby. While Season 1 of The Last of Us came out only last year, reports of an adaptation have been floating around for years. Even prior to the sequel’s controversial release, reports of a movie being worked on were present since the original game’s release. Numerous actresses have been nominated by fans to play the role of Ellie. One such actress was Kaitlyn Dever, who already had experience playing a wise-cracking teenager in Tim Allen’s sitcom Last Man Standing

East Vs. West

As reported by Deadline, HBO had been eyeing Dever for the role of Abby since the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike in November. Plans for the production are already underway as Season 2 is set to be filmed in Vancouver, Canada. Since the game took place in the Pacific Northwest, it only makes sense that this location was picked. Prior filming locations include Calgary, Alberta. Considering The Last of Us Part II is nearly twice the length of the original (20 hours compared to 9 hours), how will the studios handle this upcoming season? Will they divide it into two portions or just increase the number of episodes? Whatever happens, fans are definitely in for a wild ride. As of yet, there is no release date for Season 2 of The Last of Us series.

A lover of gore and over the top violence, no movie can make my stomach squirm. The only thing better than a bloody death scene is a well choreographed stunt. Whether it be action or horror, if it has blood in it, then I've likely already seen it.
