Jennifer Coolidge Joins ‘Minecraft’ The Movie

Surprisingly familiar names are buzzing around the upcoming movie, “Minecraft.” Jennifer Coolidge stars in "American Pie."

A Pixelated Version of 'American Pie?'

The iconic Jennifer Coolidge has been cast in the upcoming Minecraft film. That’s right, Stifler’s mom is set to be in the children’s film Minecraft.

A Boy’s Dream

Understandably, a majority of readers will be confused or just plain shocked at learning about Jennifer Coolidge’s involvement in the children’s film. This, however, actually makes perfect sense. Both have played integral parts in the development of society’s youths. Jokes aside, the report, which was first issued by Deadline and confirmed by IGN, states that Coolidge will be playing an undisclosed character. Ten years ago, the idea of Minecraft getting a film adaptation starring Stifler’s mom would make for a great CollegeHumor video. Yet, it’s not 2010, and this is very much a real thing. The only thing that could make this crazier is if she was set to play the Ender Dragon.

Stars Studded

Coolidge isn’t the only familiar face set to star in the film. Other famous faces include Matt Berry (IT Crowd), Emma Myers (Wednesday), Jack Black(Kung Fu Panda), and Jason Mamoa (Aquaman). As big of a phenomenon as Minecraft has been in modern gaming, it’s still surprising to see all of these faces in one film. With the film set to release in 2025, there’s still plenty of time for more names to be announced. This entire process feels similar to the lead-up to The Lego Movie. That film had such an abundance of recognizable talent that half the fun was trying to name which voice belonged to what actor. Furthermore, Jared Hess, director of cultural comedy gems Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, is set to direct.

As of yet, there is no hard set release date for the film, but stay tuned for more news.

A lover of gore and over the top violence, no movie can make my stomach squirm. The only thing better than a bloody death scene is a well choreographed stunt. Whether it be action or horror, if it has blood in it, then I've likely already seen it.
