Trailer For ‘Alice in Terrorland’ Puts A Deadly Spin On A Disney Classic

Off With Their Heads

The girl who stumbled down a hole after following the white rabbit has ended up in Wonderland again, this time with a horror movie twist. Alice in Terrorland releases on February 13, 2024.

Romance With a Side of Horror

What are you doing for Valentine’s Day? The new horror take on the classic fairy tale will be available for at-home viewing just in time for Valentine’s Day. If romantic comedies are not you and your valentine’s taste then experience this tale of horror set in a grim Wonderland of terror. Directed by Richard John Taylor (The Picture of Dorian Gray) this indie horror film is from the studio High Fliers Films.

“After the tragic death of her parents, Alice goes to live with her aunt in the palatial family home Wonderland. But curiouser and curiouser events are afoot as Alice starts to see strange figures in the house and soon disappears down a rabbithole of terror.”

The trailer is very ominous and showcases another side of the beloved fairy tale classic.

The Original Rabbit Hole

For those who have never seen the original movie, the film  Alice in Wonderland is a  classic book by Lewis Carroll. It was first adapted into a silent short film in 1903 before becoming a Disney animated film in July 1951. The film brought Carroll’s famous story to life. The plot is: “When Alice (Kathryn Beaumont), a restless young British girl, falls down a rabbit hole, she enters a magical world. There she encounters an odd assortment of characters, including the grinning Cheshire Cat (Sterling Holloway) and the goofy Mad Hatter (Ed Wynn). When Alice ends up in the court of the tyrannical Queen of Hearts (Verna Felton), she must stay on the ruler’s good side — or risk losing her head.” The film was and still is extremely popular as it has been remade and readapted multiple times.

The Other Live-Action Alices

Long after being made into a cartoon film by Disney in 1951, Tim Burton directed the live-action Alice in Wonderland in 2010 and even directed a sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass which was released in 2016. Now, Alice is getting bloody. There is already a horror video game that showcases a murderous version of the young girl called Alice: Madness Returns

Alice in Terrorland is directed by Richard John Taylor. Some members of the cast are Rula Lenska, Lizzy Willis, Steve Wraith, Jon-Paul Gates, and Rikki Kimpton. Check out the new horror film on DVD next month and stay tuned for possibly more clips, another trailer, and more.
