Leatherface Seems To Be Back For More

Horror fans worldwide will rejoice – a mere two years after Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the latest installment of the iconic slasher franchise, there seems to be yet another legacy sequel officially in the works now.

What Do We Know About This Sequel?

In the past few days, some interesting rumors have been circulating regarding one of the most iconic horror franchises of all time. In fact, Geek Vibes Nation and its cited source, “Movie insider Daniel RPK,” reported that a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie has been greenlit, following the legacy sequel that premiered on Netflix in 2022.

The project is tentatively titled Texas Chainsaw Legacy, and according to the site, “The film is set to explore the seemingly peaceful façade of Oasis Oaks, a gated community in rural Texas,” where “a protagonist family enjoying suburban bliss becomes entangled in a harrowing battle for survival as they confront the infamous Leatherface and his macabre kin on an abandoned property nearby.”

Rumors surrounding a potential new installment in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise have been circulating for quite some time. Despite the title and synopsis being just rumors for now, only time will tell what we can expect from this new legacy sequel.

A Look Back To The Latest Installment

The 2022 installment produced by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) has been a sour experience, to put it mildly. Critics and fans alike heavily criticized the film due to its lack of scares and formulaic script, with many feeling that the franchise had officially run out of ideas.

However, the movie was nothing short of a success for Legendary and Netflix – it came in the #2 spot on Netflix’s global charts in its debut week, with over 29 million hours viewed in those first few days. In its second week, it was still the third most-watched movie on the streaming service. Netflix hasn’t provided numbers on the film past these first two weeks, but it’s clear how Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a hit.

Stay tuned for more news.
