Return To Jurassic World
On Tuesday, February 6, it was reported by Deadline that Director David Leith is reportedly in talks to direct a new Jurassic World movie for Universal. The film, which will be written by one of the original movie’s writers, David Koepp, is officially slated to release on July 2, 2025.
Everything Known Of The New Jurassic World
Aside from Koepp writing and Leitch possibly directing, Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two movies in the series, is yet again returning as an executive producer for the new film. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are also returning as producers, after previously serving as producers for the Jurassic World trilogy. Deadline has also reported that Leitch will serve as a producer as well along with his wife, Kelly McCormick. The cast and plot are currently unknown however, it is confirmed that this new installment will be a fresh take on the franchise and therefore, not feature any of the previous main characters from the series.
What Can Leitch Bring to Jurassic World?
With Leitch being a notable action director, it makes sense for him to be chosen for this kind of project. The Jurassic Park franchise is known for its elaborate dinosaur action set pieces including the T-Rex attack in Jurassic Park (1993) or the Raptor and T-Rex team-up scenes in Jurassic World (2015). Leitch is also no stranger to working on franchises whether it be helming Deadpool 2 (2018); the Fast & Furious spin-off, Hobbs and Shaw (2019), or co-directing the first John Wick (2014) and serving as executive producer for the rest of the series. As stated before, Leitch still needs to be officially signed on so anything can still happen. Still, it would be interesting to see what a David Leitch Jurassic World sequel would look like.
All of the films in the Jurassic Park franchise can be found on Amazon Prime Video.
