Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ Will Be Available On Disney+ In March

Swift’s new film of her tour will be released next month… are fans ready for it?

It has just been announced by Disney CEO Bob Iger that Taylor Swift: The Era’s Tour (Taylor’s Version) will be available on Disney+ in mid-March. Not only will fans get a film from Swift, but this release will also include a musical surprise with five bonus songs. One song fans can be guaranteed to see performed is “Cardigan.”

Bob Iger, Disney chief executive, announced, “‘The Eras Tour’ has been a true phenomenon that has and continues to thrill fans around the world, and we are very excited to bring this electrifying concert to audiences wherever they are, exclusively on Disney+.”

Disney+ has noted that the film can be streamed for free if subscribed to a certain streaming service. This differs from other platforms that charge users $19.99 to rent The Eras Tour, such as YouTube, Apple TV, and Prime Video. While working with AMC Theaters and Cinemark to coordinate a distribution deal, Taylor Swift Touring, Swift’s in-house production company, has been reported to have produced the tour itself.

An Era of Success

While this may seem like an exciting film for Disney to release considering their historically Disney-oriented releases, Swift’s Era’s Tour ended on a highly successful note with a worldwide profit of approximately $261 million, according to Box Office Mojo. According to the Associated Press, it was the first ever tour to make more than $1 billion in solely ticket sales, and considering fans’ eagerness to collect Swift’s merchandise across every tour, the tour practically profited immensely off every aspect of the tour itself. Swift’s film from last year also included in-theater products such as bracelet-making activities (which fans have made popular), Swift-themed popcorn buckets, and more. With this in mind, Disney’s release of the film is nothing short of brilliant due to its guaranteed massive audience.

The Era’s Tour will debut on Disney+ on March 15.
