An Exciting New Dystopia To Hit Theaters April, 2024

From the production company that brought When Evil Lurks (2023) and The Innocents (2021) comes a new dystopian tale, Humane. This new horrifying feature follows a family as they decide who will be sacrificed when it is announced that 20% of the population must die.

Releasing to theaters this April, the recent trailer seems to raise high hopes for a new favorite thriller.

What the Trailer Shows

IFC Films recently released their first trailer for Humane showing a dramatic, horrific, and occasionally comedic view of a day in the life in a world that has taken extreme measures to fix its ecological collapse.

The trailer opens up to a man named Bob, played by Enrico Colantoni, walking from a house where body bags are being carried out. Narration explains the epidemic occurring in the world and how world leaders have decided for the population to forcibly decrease.

The trailer then cuts to Bob meeting and forcing himself into the York family’s large home in a series of dark and rapid cuts. The trailer encapsulates an adrenalizing feeling of agitation and desperation.

Peter Gallagher, known for American Beauty (1999) and Palm Springs (2020), plays Charles York in what appears to be the role of a confused and exasperated father. Jay Baruchel, known for How to Train Your Dragon (2010) and She’s Out of My League (2010), plays one of his sons, Jared York. Other cast members for this thriller include Emily Hampshire, Peter Gallagher, Sebastian Chacon, Alanna Bale, and Sirena Gulamgaus (IMDB).

What to Expect

Time is finally coming closer to showing audiences Caitlin Cronenberg’s first full-length feature. Previously, Cronenberg had primarily dominated the photography and modeling world.

However, with David Paul Cronenberg (The Fly, Shivers) as her father, it was only a matter of time for her to lead in the film industry. IFC Films have previously come out with a few different popular thrillers, but there is always a desire for the next feature to be the biggest hit.

So far with a talented cast, a new trailer, and the success of the production company’s previous work show promise. Humane releases to theaters on April 26, 2024, and will be released to the popular streaming service Shudder on July 26, 2024.
