‘Legally Blonde’ Series In The Works With Reese Witherspoon As Producer

“Legally Blonde” is back with a series from Amazon. Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods in "Legally Blonde."

What, Like It’s Hard?

Everyone’s favorite Harvard Law graduate is returning as a producer in a Legally Blonde series by Amazon. This classic film will certainly inspire a new generation.

The Legend

Twenty-three years after legend Elle Woods walked the halls of Harvard, fans get to revisit her world. Elle Woods is known for the legendary “bend and snap” as well as getting into Harvard Law after being the head of her sorority and a fashion merchandising major. Though she only worked to get into Harvard to prove to her ex-boyfriend that she was smart enough to be with him, she ended up winning her first case as an intern and becoming the valedictorian of Harvard Law. The film got a sequel that followed Elle to the White House and a Legally Blondes, which followed Elle’s twin cousins, Annabelle and Isabelle Woods, who take back fashion at their prep school.

The Upcoming Series

Deadline reported the upcoming spin-off series in an April 4th article. Details for the plot are currently unknown. However, the series will be written by Josh Schwarts and Stephanie Savage from The O.C. and Gossip Girl.

Deadline also said that Amazon will possibly explore an additional spinoff series that would be based on Witherspoon’s law-learning lead. However, the plans for this are in the very early stages. It is unknown if Reese Witherspoon will reprise her iconic role or stay behind the camera.

Bringing it Back

Legally Blonde was released in 2001 and is one of the classic films that fans will watch for years to come. The film received a musical adaptation that has been performed by schools and was on Broadway for over a year. Other nostalgic films are being brought back, like Freaky Friday with Lindsay Lohan, so fans will see Legally Blonde following in those footsteps. Since early last year, Amazon was reportedly debating rebooting fan favorites like Robocop, Pink Panther, Legally Blonde, and more. Legally Blonde 3 was also in the works with Reese Witherspoon but there are no further details or a release date.

Stay tuned for more information as it is released, and catch Legally Blonde, Legally Blonde 2, and Legally Blondes on Max now.
