Witness the beginning of the end!

“A Quiet Place,” something no one will find on Mother’s Day, least of all mothers. If one does seek a quiet place, they can at least find refuge by watching the trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One.

Bloody Disgusting reports that it’s a departure from John Krasinski’s masterpiece A Quiet Place and its sequel, which showcases the Abbott family navigating the world that went radio silent.

A Terrifying Locale and Immense Star Power

This spinoff prequel is a separate but connected universe set in New York City — a terrifying locale, since it has monstrous rats and other unsettling elements like ever-increasing rent prices.

Furthermore, joining the hush-hush, skin-crawling frenzy is Lupita Nyong’o (Us), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), and Alex Wolff (Hereditary). In addition, returning from A Quiet Place Part II is Djimon Hounsou’s character, who helped Emmet (Cillian Murphy) and Regan (Millicent Simmonds) get to the radio station on the island at the end of the film. Beyond strong acting, the talented Michael Sarnoski (Pig) is leading the cast as director.

According to Entertainment Weekly via Bloody Disgusting, the plot is as follows: “Lupita Nyong’o stars as Sam, a woman who’s on a day trip to New York City when the monsters arrive. “As everything quickly goes to hell, she’s thrown together with a man named Eric (Joseph Quinn). With some reluctance, the pair agree to navigate and survive the city together.”

Where Is John Krasinski?

John Krasinski is the brainchild behind this spinoff, as he devised the concept that spawned franchises alongside Michael Sarnoski, who later penned the script. For those disappointed not to see Krasinksi in the trailer, they can rest assured that Krasinski has been busy dreaming up a third movie in his Abbott-helmed films.

For producing power, Krasinski shines yet again alongside action giants like Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller (Platinum Dunes.)

Final Thoughts

As opposed to Mother’s Day weekend, which could go any way, the prequel is expected to do well since A Quiet Place II took in a staggering $297 million globally.

The upcoming franchise film is hitting theaters next month on June 28.
