The Lost Reed Richards

The Fall of the House of Usher and iZombie star opens up about being in the running for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Fourth Shot At “Fantastic Four”

Despite Marvel having granted fans their dreams by casting John Krasinski as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, they’ve taken a different route for their Fantastic Four film. After years of rumors and fan theories as to who will be portraying Richards in The Fantastic Four, Pedro Pascal was officially cast in the role. Now, Rahul Kohli is opening up about how he almost got the role.

The Fantastic Four will be directed by WandaVision producer and director Matt Shakman, replacing the previous director Jon Watts. The script is being written by Eric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Joining alongside Pascal is Wanessa Kirby as Sue, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Econ Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The Fantastic Four is set to be released on July 25, 2025, with production set to begin this summer.

The Reed Richards We Almost Got

In an interview with Salaam Nerds, Kohli revealed that he was in the running for Mr. Fantastic. The topic came up after it was noted that Kohli was mentioned as being one of the numerous actors fan-casted for the role.

“Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine,” Kohli reveled. “It will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them. On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, I’m wanted!’ People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything.”

Kohli continued, “On bad days, ‘It’s a reminder that you’re not the guy. You’re not there. These are the roles you’ll never get.’ So, it’s sweet and it’s perspective. It’s how you feel about yourself.”

The actor has made a name for himself appearing in horror series for Netflix. His filmography includes The Midnight Club, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Haunting of Bly Manor. Kohli has also appeared in iZombie, Harley Quinn, and Supergirl. His next appearance is set to be in Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of The Life of Chuck, based upon the Stephen King novella of the same name.

The Fantastic Four is set to be released on July 25, 2025.
