Miles Teller Cast In Role For ‘An Officer And A Gentleman’

Paramount Rebooting Film With Modern Updates

Miles Teller, known for his work in Top Gun: Maverick and The Spectacular Now, is set to star in the upcoming reboot of the classic Paramount romance drama An Officer and a Gentleman. The new film will be a modern update of the classic film and is not the first time that Miles Teller has played a Navy officer.

The Original ‘An Officer And A Gentleman’

An Officer and a Gentleman is a 1982 American romantic drama film. The plot is about a United States Navy Aviation Officer Candidate, Zach Mayo, played by Richard Gere (Pretty Woman). He is beginning his training at the Aviation Officer Candidate School. Furthermore, he meets a girl during his training named Paula, played by Debra Winger (Terms of Endearment). She lives in the town where he is completing his training. While training, he starts to clash with Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley, played by Louis Gossett Jr. Additionally, the film was adapted from a screenplay written by Douglas Day Steward and directed by Taylor Hackford.

Miles Teller Cast In Reboot 

Famous for his work in films like Top Gun: Maverick, The Spectacular Now, and Divergent, actor Miles Teller will be cast in the reboot of An Officer and a Gentleman. Furthermore, the co-presidents of Paramount Motion Picture Group, Daria Cercek, and Mike Ireland, had viewed Teller as a candidate for the role before casting him. Teller’s role in the film expands his relationship with the studio. Moreover, he recently wrapped production on the project for Apple Studios called The Gorge. He also completed the Michael Jackson biopic called Michael, in which he plays Michael Jackson’s lawyer, John Branca. Unfortunately, it has not been announced yet what role Teller will play in the upcoming An Officer and a Gentleman

Who Is Working On The Film

The remake of the classic Paramount film has been announced to be produced by Temple Hill. The script has been written by both Matt Johnson, who wrote the original, and Dana Fox, who wrote the latest script. Fox is known for writing scripts for popular romantic comedy films such as The Wedding Date and 27 Dresses.  However, there is no information about who the director of the remake will be as of yet. Also, there are no details about the scripts or how the story will be remade to meet modern standards. Additionally, other than Miles Teller, no other cast members have been announced yet.
