Brad Pitt Needs “A Car For Combat” In The Teaser For ‘F1’

Brad Pitt plays a retired Formula One driver that comes back on the circuit in Warners Bros. and Apple's latest action-drama.

The Teaser Gives Us Our First Look At Apple's Upcoming Sports Action-Drama

The teaser trailer for Warner Bros. and Apple Original Film’s upcoming sports action-drama F1, starring Brad Pitt, has hit online. The teaser shows Pitt as a Formula One driver who also appears to be giving input to the engineering team charged with building his racecar.

Trailer Reveals an Impressive Cast

The trailer comes to fans a little less than a year before the scheduled release date of June 27, 2025.

Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Dune: Part One), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Insherin), and Damson Idris (Snowfall) will be alongside Pitt in the upcoming film.

In the trailer, Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, an old Formula One driver who comes out of retirement. Hayes tells his engineer, played by Kerry Condon, that they need to

“build a car for combat.”

Condon’s character questions how to make such a car safe, to which Pitt replies, “Who said anything about safe?”

Set to the driving beat of Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” the fast-paced teaser builds suspense and ends on a cliffhanger, underscoring the inherent dangers of the sport.

The film will also feature all 10 Formula One teams and their respective drivers and team members. Noteworthy drivers such as Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz Jr., Sergio Pérez, and Benoit Treluyer will play themselves during the production.

A Production Long In Development

Back in December 2021, Deadline reported a bidding war between Hollywood’s major studios and even streaming companies, such as Netflix and Amazon, for the rights to produce a new racing film starring Brad Pitt.

The movie was also slated to be directed by Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion, Top Gun: Maverick), and Jerry Bruckheimer attached as one of the film’s producers.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Apple Original Films ultimately won the bid and will distribute the movie in theaters. F1 will feature four production companies, including Dawn Apollo Films, the company of world champion Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.

Although Queen’s song ‘We Will Rock You’ is used in the recent trailer, Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, Interstellar) will compose F1’s film score.

F1 will be racing into theaters on June 27, 2025.
