Old Emotions And New Are Moving Onto The Charts
Joy once said: ‘Do you ever look at someone and wonder what is going on inside their head?’ Well, no one has to wonder how others feel about Inside Out 2 because it has taken over the box office by becoming the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
‘Frozen’ Has ‘Let It Go’
There is nothing but joy at Pixar Animation with Inside Out 2 hitting $1.46 billion at the worldwide box office. This makes it the highest-grossing animated movie ever. Previously holding the title was Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen II which made 1.45 at the worldwide box office. On the Top 10 Highest Grossing Animated Movie Box Office List, 7 out of 10 films belong to Disney and five of those belong to Pixar. This animated film will certainly help to form many individuals’ sense of self.
Additionally, on the overall all-time global chart, Inside Out 2 has climbed to 13. Previously holding the position was Barbie at $1.44 Billion. Inside Out 2 currently stands below Top Gun: Maverick. However, if the trend continues, the film might surpass the action hit.
In the international box office chart, the animated film stands at 20 with $861.8 million in revenue. It was clear the film would break records after its opening weekend when it reached the biggest opening for an animated movie worldwide with $295 million. Hitting the $1 billion milestone just 19 days after its release was a truly remarkable achievement as it was the fastest any animated film had reached the milestone.
‘We Are Suppressed Emotions’
Inside Out 2 was directed by Kelsey Mann and starred Amy Poehler as Joy, Maya Hawke as Anxiety, Kensignton Tallman as Riley, Tony Hale as Fear, Liza Lapria as Disgust, Lewis Black as Anger, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Ayo Edebiri as Envy, Adèle Exarchopoulos as Ennui, and Paul Walter Hauser as Embarrassment.
The new emotions added so many layers to the film which helped it reach the high standing and revenue that it stands at today. The rise in discussion of mental health in society, along with the addition of Anxiety as an emotion truly made the film relatable, especially to the younger generations. Furthermore, all the emotions are very funny and quirky, but everyone has felt emotions like envy and embarrassment no matter how big or small. It seems this film will mark a generation and be a viewed animated film for all ages alike for a very long time.
Though some believe that The Lion King (2019) is the highest-grossing animated film, Disney Studios itself categorized it as a Live Action film. Therefore, Inside Out 2 currently holds the crown.
