The New Trailer Shows A Group Of Renegades Shooting Their Way Across The Borderlands
Lionsgate released the final trailer for the Borderlands film adaptation a couple of weeks before its theatrical release on August 9. This is only the second trailer released for the movie, but fans finally get to see the vault hunters up close in this chaotic trailer.
A Closer Look at the Vault Hunters
The final trailer for Borderlands finally reveals some story details amidst the chaos of the action-comedy blockbuster. The rag-tag bunch of vault hunters are in possession of a key to Pandora’s secret and lost vault.
The trailer shows plenty of Kevin Hart as Roland, as he takes the lead with Tiny Tina, the Psycho Krieg, the Siren Lilith, and Tannis as they shoot their way across the borderlands. With so much buzz about the movie, it’s a surprise that this is only the second trailer Lionsgate has released; however, the visuals are stunning, and the action is explosive, literally.
Initially, the film adaptation of the popular video game series Borderlands was announced nearly a decade ago with an R-rating. With Eli Roth directing (Hostel, Planet Terror), Lionsgate let the R-rating go so the film would be more accessible to the public.
The film’s cast features Care Blanchett (Tár), Haley Bennet (The Girl on the Train), Florian Munteanu (Creed III), Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie), Gina Gershon (Thanksgiving), Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story), Janina Gavankar (Big Sky), Edgar Ramírez (Dr. Death), Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All At Once) and Jack Black (Kung Fu Panda 4).
The Video Game Franchise
Borderlands was originally released in 2009; the first-person looter-shooter popularized the genre. Known for its comical voice-acting and memorable playable characters. The sequel, Borderlands 2, capitalized on this with even better gameplay elements like “gunzerking” (dual-wielding just about any gun), winning a handful of awards and nominations.
The trademark satirical voice-acting and colorful world of Borderlands became extremely well-known and popular. Though Borderlands 3 would receive some harsh criticisms for the direction of its story elements, the gameplay remained imaginative and player-focused.
PlayStation Plus has recently released the game for free throughout July, most likely to capitalize on the upcoming August 9 release of the Borderlands film. Borderlands 3 will be available for free on the PlayStation store until early August.
