From 'Romancing Mister Bridgerton' To 'An Offer From A Gentleman'
Netflix has announced the male romantic lead of the upcoming Season 4 of Bridgerton as Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). The announcement comes a little over a month after the end of Bridgerton Season 3, which focused on the love story of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).
The Choices For The Lead
As one of Netflix’s most popular historical dramas, Bridgerton, a series set in England’s Regency Era and focusing on the children of a wealthy family during the social season, enters its fourth season after the dramatic end to season three, which recently concluded on June 13, 2024. The ending of season 3 left fans wondering who could be the Season 4 lead. The finale concluded with open-ended stories for three main characters: Benedict Bridgerton, Eloise Bridgerton, and Francesca Bridgerton, as Penelope and Colin got their happy ending in Season 3. Each season of the series is based on one of the eight Bridgerton books, with Season 1 based on the first book in the series called The Duke and I, Season 2 based on The Viscount Who Loved Me, and Season 3 telling the story of Romancing Mister Bridgerton. The three characters that could have been the Season 4 lead were the focus of the books An Offer From A Gentleman, To Sir Philip With Love, and When He Was Wicked. Ultimately, Netflix announced that Benedict (Luke Thompson) would be the male romantic lead for Season 4.

Season Four: Meet The Leading Man
Benedict Bridgerton is the second Bridgerton son and is known for his artistic skills. During Season 3, Benedict went on a journey to find himself and who he wanted to be. Netflix announced that Benedict would be the focus of Season 4 on their website Tudum and the social media platform X, along with a video that unmasked Benedict as the newest eligible suitor among the ton. “It has been brought to this author’s attention that perhaps it is time to unmask the newest suitor of the marriage market. Benedict Bridgerton’s story is coming next season,” stated the official Bridgerton X/Twitter account for the announcement post. Season 4 will follow the events of Benedict’s story that take place in the third Bridgerton novel, An Offer From A Gentleman, which focuses on Benedict and his love interest Sophie. Netflix released a logline of the new season that stated, “Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.” Direct storylines for the other Bridgerton siblings have not been revealed, nor has the casting for Benedict’s love interest Sophie. Netflix also announced that the season will have eight episodes but has not announced a premiere date yet. In June, the series’ showrunner revealed that Season 4 might not debut until 2026.
