A Deeper Dive Into Gotham City
On the last Saturday of July 2024, HBO released a new trailer for their upcoming series The Penguin, focusing on the DC supervillain of the same name. This trailer holds certain details on what The Penguin will have in store when it makes its debut intended for September of 2024, hinting at an all-out gang war throughout the streets of Gotham City that will surely captivate the audience.
DC’s Kingpin of Crime
Being played by Robert Patterson, Oswald Cobblepot, more well-known as his alias “The Penguin,” warns the viewer that he plans to “burn down an empire from the inside out.” New characters from all across Gotham City, including Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone, also referred to as “The Hangman” in the trailer, say that they had previously been rehabilitated in Arkham Asylum and released. With such a wide cast of potentially interesting characters, the gang war mentioned in this newest trailer will likely explore these new cast members and their backgrounds while expanding the depths of Gotham City’s history in a gunfight-filled, violent gang war. The viewers will follow the Penguin’s lead to take over the notoriously crime-infested city.
What To Expect
For one of Batman’s villains that sounds like a joke, The Penguin as portrayed in the trailers of the upcoming show make it rather evident that Oswald Cobblepot is not someone to laugh at. With the trailer depicting him as a violent criminal mastermind with good taste in the rich life of Gotham’s elite, fans of the film can look to an impressive, interesting portrayal of The Penguin on the big screen, with a similar look to The Penguin as he is depicted in Rocksteady Studios’ Batman: Arkham games. From the currently available trailers, fans of this Batman villain should look forward to an action-packed performance and a well-acted character.
Find The Penguin available to stream on Max starting Thursday, September 19.
