4. Heartstopper Season 3

Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper began as a webcomic, quickly gaining a passionate following that led to its release as a physical graphic novel, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign. Oseman shared that the two main characters, Nick and Charlie, originally appeared in her novel Solitaire, which focuses on Charlie’s sister, Tori. Heartstopper follows the tender and heartwarming journey of Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, two boys who meet at an all-boys grammar school in England. Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, form an unlikely friendship that soon blossoms into something more. The success of Heartstopper as a webcomic and graphic novel speaks to its universal themes and relatable characters, resonating with a wide audience. It has garnered critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase eagerly awaiting each new installment. The story’s positive representation of LGBT relationships and its emphasis on love and kindness have made it a beacon of hope and affirmation for many readers.

Heartstopper was picked up by Netflix in 2021 for a series adaptation, staying true to the original story by closely following the graphic novels. The first season premiered on April 22, 2022, followed by the second season on August 3, 2023.
