Meth Gator (2024) Official The Asylum Trailer
A Nightmare Come to Life
From the minds that brought you the Sharknado franchise comes a new movie that sees yet another creature getting into things they shouldn’t. Get out of here, Cocaine Bear, it’s Meth Gator’s time to shine!
A Creature Feature With A Taste For Meth
Posted only days before its scheduled release date, the trailer for Meth Gator, previously titled Attack of the Meth Gator, is pretty clear about why dumping drugs down anything that leads to the swamp is a horrible idea. In the trailer, viewers are introduced to the main star of this creature feature, the meth-gator, and the drug seems to make the gator unstoppable as it terrorizes the town in a bloody rampage.
The official synopsis reads, “Police warn residents to refrain from flushing methamphetamine down the toilet to prevent “meth-gators.” In Sweet Water Point, Florida, they didn’t listen.”
Meth Gator was directed by Christoper Ray (War of the Worlds: Extinction) and was written by Lauren Pritchard and Joe Roche, who collaborated on Doomsday Meteor together. The movie stars Patrick Labyorteaux (Heathers), LaRonn Marzett (What Rhymes with Reason), Robbie Rist (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)), Vanesa Tamayo (Monster Grizzly), Bruce Peoples (Dope Gifts), Ray Acevedo (Megaboa), and Wade Hunt Williams (Roommate Regret).
The Asylum Production Company
The Asylum is well known for creating low-budget movie knockoffs of Hollywood success stories. Most notably, the studio produced the Sharknado franchise, Snakes on a Train, 2-Headed Shark Attack, and Mega Shark versus Giant Octopus.
According to the press, these films are dubbed “mockbusters,” as they use the publicity of another movie using a similar title or subject. Meth Gator is a mockbuster of Cocaine Bear which was distributed by Universal Pictures. Meth Gator was first announced soon after Cocaine Bear was released in theaters.
Meth Gator will be released as Digital in select theaters on August 2 including Laemmle Glendale in Glendale, CA; Hickory Ridge Cinemas in Brunswick, OH; Trylon Cinema in Minneapolis, MN; Film Noir Cinema in Brooklyn, NY; and Auror Cineplex in Rosewell, GA.
