Not the Last of the Show

After the finale of House of Dragon Season 2, the first look at the long-awaited second season of Max’s The Last of Us, based on the video game franchise with the same name, has finally been unveiled in a Twitter/X post from Max’s official account. The post contains a 25-second sneak peek of what fans should expect from Season 2 with the caption “I saved her.” Not only does this short video confirm some of the returning actors and characters, but it also brings fans new information about the general direction of Season 2.

Not The Last

Within the short clip of The Last of Us Season 2, fans can see the return of Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby, Pedro Pascal’s Joel, Jeffrey Wright’s Issac, and Isabela Merced’s Dina, seen in the flashback to Joel’s big decision in the finale of Season 1. Although not much information has been able to be found from the 25 second clip, the show will likely follow the general idea of how the video games’ narrative goes, as it had with Season 1. Fans of the first season will enjoy seeing the returning cast deal with the consequences that arose from Joel’s choice in The Last of Us Season 1. This sneak peek gives us a few flashbacks as Joel questions if he has made the right choice, giving the audience an idea of what conflict the upcoming Season 2 will have the main cast endure.

Following the Sequel

In the teaser trailer, these flashbacks appear to be taking place in a scene from The Last of Us Part 2, the sequel to the first video game that inspired the Max TV series. Thus, it seemingly confirms that the show’s second season will follow the plot of its video game inspiration to a reasonable degree. Fans should expect characters that made their debut in the video game sequel to also appear in the coming Last of Us Season 2 on Max, and for the plot to share similar twists and turns to the show’s source material. Although no exact date for the new season has been announced yet, the official Max Twitter/X account stated that the upcoming season would be available sometime in 2025.

Fans of the series should catch Season 2 of The Last of Us on Max in 2025, and wait for more information such as a solid release date which will be reported here at Dead Talk News.
