‘Inside Out 2’ Surpasses ‘The Avengers’ As 10th Biggest Movie Of All Time

Inside Out 2 (2024) Official Pixar Trailer

The Film Has Destroyed Every Record On Its Rise To The Top

Inside Out 2 has reached the milestone of being the most financially successful movie of the year and the most lucrative animated release ever.

According to Collider, the film raked in a staggering 1.52 billion dollars, which helped get it to this high-powered status.

What’s It About?

Collider reports that Inside Out 2 is helmed by director Kelsey Mann and is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Pixar film: Inside Out (2015), which raked in an impressive $850 million and even garnered “Best Animated Feature” at the Academy Awards. Currently, the long-awaited sequel holds a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score with a 95% audience rating. The film’s success is bolstered by its famous voice actor stars, including Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Diane Lane, Kensington Tallman, and Kyle MacLachlan, alongside newcomers Maya Hawke, Ayo Edebiri, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Paul Walter Hauser.

Seven Weeks Of Box Office Carnage

Inside Out 2 has taken no survivors as it’s carved out a box office record since the film’s wide theatrical release seven weeks ago. During the first weekend alone, the movie generated $300 million against its $200 million budget. Moreover, today it stands as the top-grossing animated release in history, Pixar’s biggest hit to date, and this year’s highest-grossing box office success — beating out summer blockbusters such as Deadpool & Wolverine.

How Much Money Is It Raking In?

According to Collider, Inside Out 2 has taken in $618 million in North America and $900 million internationally — totaling $1.52 billion. When comparing it to other giants in the top 10 of all time, it’s not far behind: The Lion King remake ($1.64 billion), Jurassic World ($1.66 billion), Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.9 billion), Avengers: Infinity War ($2.04 billion), Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens ($2.05 billion), Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.3 billion), Avengers: Endgame ($2.7 billion), and Avatar ($2.9 billion).
