Netflix Series ‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’ New Trailer

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft (2024) Official Netflix Trailer

More Questions Than Answers Arise For Lara Croft’s Latest Expedition

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft was announced with a first look trailer on September 27th, 2023. The newest trailer for the animated series introduces characters both old and new, as well as a release date for the first episode.

A New Venture

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft acts as a sequel to the Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy reboot from 2013-2018. Lara Croft returns to Croft Manor, likely from Paititi, the setting of Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018). The trailer is chock full of Lara doing feats of athletics: jumping across lava, fighting men in a train car, and running along walls. Intermittent are clips of Lara remembering and mourning the loss of her parents while voices narrate the death and destruction that follow Lara no matter where she goes.

The main theme of the trailer, and presumably the show, is perseverance. A man’s voice asks her “how much longer can [she] persevere?” in reference to everything she endured in the Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy. Lara must persevere whatever her next adventure throws at her while trying to understand just who exactly she is.

Cast and Crew

Hayley Atwell stars as the titular heroine Lara Croft, best known for her portrayal of Peggy Carter in the Marvel universe. Lara is accompanied by Zip from Tomb Raider Chronicles, Legend, and Underworld, as well as Jonah Maiava from the Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy. They are played by Allen Maldonado and Earl Bayon respectively. Richard Armitage plays a character called Devereaux, who has not yet appeared in the Tomb Raider franchise but is presumed to be the villain of the animated series.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is written and produced by Tasha Huo, known for her work with The Witcher: Blood Origin. She is accompanied by producers Dallas Dickinson, Jen Chambers, Dimitri M. Johnson, Jacob Robinson, Noah Hughes, Ben Graeber, Daniel Jevons, and Timothy I. Stevenson.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft premieres on October 10th, 2024 exclusively on Netflix.
