The Series Offers A Unique Take On The Challenges of Film Production

Making a movie looks plain exhausting in The Franchise, an upcoming television series helmed by Sam Mendes and Amando Iannucci.

Deadline reports that HBO will debut the comedy about the underpinnings of Hollywood on October 6, and has just dropped a brand new trailer in promotion for its release.

What’s ‘The Franchise’ About?

According to Deadline, the trailer sheds light on the taxing world of TV/film production by showing what it takes to get a fictional superhero movie into development. The crew of Tecto: Eye of the Storm are faced with the harsh reality of how to get an unappreciated franchise movie off the ground. Furthermore, as studio bigwigs bump heads against the director, tension grows and it seems like the biggest enemy to getting the movie made is the people involved. Faced with big talent egos and unruly producers, the production workers Daniel (Himesh Patel) and Dag (Lolly Adefope) do their best to keep the controversy behind the curtain. Moreover, for anyone who has worked on the production side of the TV/film industry, the series will offer a spotlight on the craziness within.
