The Scream Queen’s Next Project
Making a name for herself in the horror genre with the break-out hit Ready or Not, Samara Weaving has landed her next big role in Carolina Caroline.
All Killer, No Filler
Carolina Caroline has been described as a romantic crime thriller. The current synopsis states that the film stars Weaving as a young woman who goes on the search for her estranged mother. Accompanying her on the journey is a charismatic con man who’s on the run from the law. Together, the pair travel throughout the Southeast, leaving behind a trail of crime and passion.
Portraying the con man accompanying Weaving on her journey is Kyle Gallner, who has also made a name for himself in horror, most recently appearing in Strange Darling. Additionally, cast as the estranged mother is Kyra Sedwick, with Jon Gries rounding out the cast in an unknown role. Carolina Caroline was written by Tom Dean and directed by Adam Carter Rehemeier, which marks the reunion of Rehemier and Gallner after their 2020 film Dinner In America. Furthermore, Stephen Braun is producing the film from Bee-Hove Productions, Eric B. Fleischman and Chris Abernathy of The Wonder Company, and Tim and Trevor White of Star Thrower Entertainment. Currently, Carolina Caroline is in production in Kentucky.
When discussing the film, Rehmeir stated, “Smara and Kyle are delivering truly electric, nuanced performances, equal parts thrilling, romantic, comedic, and moving. It’s been inspiring working with them, Kyra Sedgwick and Jon Gries, as well as my regular core crew of artists and the entire incredible team on this project.”

The Cast
With Carolina Caroline casting Samara Weaving and Kyle Gallner, the film was able to get two prominent stars who have been rising in the industry in the past few years. Moreover, Samara Weaving appeared in small roles in projects such as Monster Trucks, Ash vs Evil Dead, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri before featuring in the hit Netflix film The Babysitter. This success in horror continued with Ready or Not, Scream VI, and The Babysitter: Killer Queen. Additionally, outside of Carolina Caroline, Weaving’s other upcoming projects include Borderline, Little Sky, Eenie Meanie, and Down the Rabbit Hole.
Gallner has had similar success in horror but has had an extensive career that included numerous popular television series. Furthermore, Gallner has appeared in small roles in series such as Bones, Veronica Mars, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Walking Dead, The Shield, and Smallville. His work in horror extends back to films such as Jennifer’s Body, The Haunting in Connecticut, and the 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Moreover, his recent hits include Dinner in America, Scream, Smile, The Passenger, and Strange Darling. Besides Carolina Caroline, Gallner’s upcoming projects include Just Breathe, Gullible Bitch, and Smile 2.
