An Independent Documentary For Peace
Despite the growing propaganda, misinformation, and hatred that has risen from the Israel-Hamas War, there is an ensemble of peace-seeking individuals who are fighting to make their voices heard. Jewish American Oscar nominee Julie Cohen will be directing and releasing her newest short film The Path Forward alongside Palestinian American Mo Husseini to tell the urgent story of the Israeli Jews and Palestinians who are striving for peace in their homelands.
How Fear Turns To Hope In ‘The Path Forward’
Though the conflicts between Israel and the Hamas-led Palestinian militant groups have been ongoing for decades, the crimes and heinous acts of war have escalated significantly since late 2023. Since then, it has been hard for the rest of the world to keep up with the weekly stories of threats and genocides. That is why Cohen and Husseini have collaborated to shed light on those who are raising their voices on the recent human destruction.

On September 16, Deadline reported the official synopsis, “A growing chorus of Palestinians and Israeli Jews are speaking up – often in cross-cultural pairs – against war, occupation and violence, and for peace, justice, empathy and sanity. The Path Forward seeks to amplify the voices of some of the most eloquent and inspiring of these pairs. Interweaving their moving on-stage dialogues in the U.S. and Europe with their poignant life stories, this documentary creates a tapestry of voices for peace and reconciliation. The film contains no images of war, death, or campus protests. Instead, viewers will be immersed in the mind and heart-opening world of innovative thinkers finding a new path forward.”
Solutions To War
There seems to be no end in sight for the Israel-Hamas War, but it is increasingly important to encourage those who have a voice to promote peace. The trailer alone for Cohen’s film is heart-wrenching and inspirational and is a clear indicator that this documentary short will be leaving audiences in a whirlwind of emotions. The bulk of the video follows Maox Inon, a Jewish Israeli man whose parents died in the October 7, 2023 attack, as he explains his desire for unity and his belief in finding peace in a land full of grieving citizens. Deadline has credited executive producers Rania Batrice, Bruce Cohen, and Sheila Nevins. As well as editor Kelly Kendrick, and composer Katya Richardson.
The Path Forward is set to premiere on September 27, 2024, for the DCTV Firehouse Cinema in New York and will be eligible for the Oscars.
