Official Creepshow Season 3 Trailer
An Upcoming Scare
QC Entertainment, the producers behind films such as BlacKkKlansman, Us, Antebellum, and Get Out, have set their sights on their next project.
The Talent Behind the Scenes
Their next film is currently titled The Casket Girls and will be directed by Justin Dyck, who is known for directing several Christmas-set romance movies, such as A Christmas Exchange, Christmas in the Wilds, Christmas in Paris, and A Christmas Village. He was recently involved with the Shudder reboot of Creepshow, having directed two episodes from the series. QC Entertainment is set to not only produce the Dyck-directed film, but fully finance it as well. The Casket Girls was written by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, with Keith Cooper and Dyck lending revisions on the script.
Gabrielle Union was announced to star in The Casket Girls as the character Detective Shay Williams. While not new to more serious and intense films — having been involved in movies such as Breaking In and Sleepless — Union is known for more lighthearted and comedic projects such as Bring It On, 10 Things I Hate About You, the Think Like a Man franchise, and the 2022 remake of Cheaper By the Dozen. Union has also been involved in several high-profile series, such as ER, Friends, The West Wing, and Family Matters.

Horror Meets Real-Life
It’s a trend in horror films to base stories off of real-life events, usually to try and frighten audiences. The Casket Girls follows that trend as it takes inspiration from true events. The legend tells a story about a group of young women in the early 1700s, who travel from France to New Orleans. Here, the young women are set to become brides in the French colonies, with their only belongings being small chests, or “caskets.” Homicide rates in New Orleans begin to skyrocket after their arrival, as bodies of men are found with their blood drained. Accused of being vampires or demons, the girls are rounded up and imprisoned in the Ursuline Convent attic with bolted nails on their windows that were blessed by the Pope in an attempt to protect the other citizens.
While the legend could be made into its own movie, The Casket Girls jumps ahead to modern day. Trapped inside the Ursuline Convent with a group of tourists, Detective Williams and her partner encounter the Casket Girls after they escape being imprisoned for over 300 years. Details explaining how the Casket Girls are still alive – are they witches, vampires, or some other supernatural beings? – have yet to be revealed. The movie has not begun filming, and a release date has not been announced yet.
