‘Maintenance Required’ Adds Madison Bailey & Katy O’Brian

Relationships Require Maintenance To Keep Things Running

Katy O’Brien (Love Lies Bleeding) and Madison Bailey (Outer Banks) are attached to headline Amazon MGM Studios’ rom-com, Maintenance Required. With a unique premise and a talented ensemble cast, this film promises to deliver both humor and heart.

A Star-Studded Lineup For Maintenance Required

While public casting reveals are being slowly teased out, the film has already been in production. Moreover, according to Deadline’s previous reporting, Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale) and Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys: Ride or Die) are slated to star in the project, with notable supporting actors including Inanna Sarkis (After), Matteo Lane (Matteo Lane: The Advice Special Part 2), and comedy giant Jim Gaffigan, who needs no introduction.

In this much-anticipated rom-com, Madelaine Petsch portrays Charlie, a woman grappling with the dilemma of whether to continue her women-mechanic auto repair shop. With no confidants to turn to, she finds solace in an internet message forum geared toward car enthusiasts. Soon after that, she develops a virtual relationship with someone who pretends to be her friend but is her competitor: Beau (Jacob Scipio).

Who Are Bailey and O’Brien?

Beyond the juicy plotline of adversarial love interests, which harkens back to classic rom coms like You’ve Got Mail (1998), the casting of Bailey and O’Brien comes into play, as they are part of the lineup of Charlie’s female-led mechanics. Furthermore, fans will recognize Bailey from Netflix’s popular Outer Banks, Swamp Murders, Black Lightning, and American Horror Stories, and will see her appear in the upcoming film Time Cut. Her co-star, O’Brien, notably had a breakout hit recently with her role in Rose Glass’ Love Lies Bleeding, and beyond that scintillating horror hit, she appeared in the recent blockbuster Twisters.

Who’s Behind It?

Amazon enlisted Luber Roklin and Future Artists to devise the screenplay. In addition, Lacey Uhlemeyer takes on the pivotal role of director, which is all the more impressive considering this marks her first feature. Furthermore, Erin Falconer, the lauded author of How to Break Up with Your Friends, penned the screenplay alongside Uhlemeyer. Support comes from Future Artists Entertainment’s Matt Williams, who acts as producer, with other producers including Lena Roklin and Matt Luber of Luber Roklin Entertainment. Petsch is not only a star of the production but also serves as Executive Producer.
